Reebok Visits NUPRSSA

Last week, NUPRSSA had the chance to speak with Danielle Dupre, Corporate Communications Coordinator at Reebok.  Danielle works in the Reebok headquarters here in Massachusetts and was able to spend an hour with NUPRSSA to share what she does with the company and how her experiences led her to her current position.

While learning about Reebok’s background and awesome corporate culture, Danielle shared a few tips for students interested in PR/communications.  However, her advice is applicable to students of any field – here’s what she had to say:

1. If possible, graduate and apply for jobs early.  Danielle graduated in December instead of May and was able to get in front of employees months before the larger part of her graduating class.  Much like applying early decision for university, applying to jobs earlier means less competition.

2. The best way to learn is through trial and error.  As a PR major, Danielle worked in a few different positions before landing her corporate communications gig at Reebok.  She explained that the best way for new graduates to learn what job is right for them is through trial and error- from there they can piece together aspects of each job they like the most.

3. Say yes.  Go after new opportunities and try to gain as much experience as possible. After only a few short months of working for Reebok and some unexpected corporate shifting, Danielle took on many more responsibilities that she initially anticipated.  Take a cue from Danielle and step up when help is needed, be ambitious, and say yes.

Thanks again for visiting with us, Danielle!
